What Is Happening?

This afternoon the Conservative leaflet delivery lady skipped my home! How rude.

A resident in the ward has been providing me with a copy of their leaflets. I also received the Labour leaflet yesterday, so I’ve shared my views on the leaflets of each party below:

Reform UK

My leaflet mentions neither of the other parties, it just focuses on what I’ll do. If you haven’t received one yet, you will do so before the election, however I’ve also shared a lot online and will continue to do so.

Labour

Labour very kindly dedicated a whole page of their leaflet to Reform, advertising us in block capitals. They underlined their own party, just so you know they aren’t actually advertising Reform.

Their leaflet mentions the Tories 6 times in the main text, mainly (and validly) criticising their running of Lancashire County Council.

They mention Reform much more prominently, but mention their own party only twice.

This is possibly because their MP is presently suspended, has been since February and the party nationally appears to be waiting until after the 1st May County Council Election to quietly re-instate him, or to expel him… hopefully the latter!

Or it could be because most of the nation are sick of the Starmer drama, ill considered farmers tax changes, or raiding pensioners purses and wallets to pour the money into invented ‘black holes’, or to send to Mauritius to sweeten the deal of giving them the Chagos Islands, or to send to Ukraine, or to give it to 5-star hotels for housing refugees, or to give it to France to ‘smash the gangs’… basically anywhere except British taxpayers.

They seem to think it’s a two-horse race between Labour and Reform. We shall see.

Conservatives

The Conservatives have sent multiple leaflets and have paid for sponsored Facebook videos, mostly talking about Reform.

An astute resident of the ward pointed out that their latest leaflet mentions Reform more than they mention themselves. It seems that both Labour and the Tories are obsessed with Reform and are trying to present themselves as the only thing to stop us.

I can understand them not mentioning themselves much, as a party who have wrecked Lancashire County Council locally and as their former LCC leader is facing criminal trial in 2027.

Nationally they were elected with a huge majority under Boris to stop the boats and sort the county out, but they kicked out the nation’s chosen leader and abjectly failed to improve anything, instead they wasted more money on a doomed Rwanda scheme, lined their own pockets with PPE deals and spent taxpayer money on ministers having covid parties, while lying to the public and telling them they can’t see and touch their dying relatives in hospital and funerals couldn’t be properly attended… while Matt Hancock was getting touchy feely with another woman behind his wife’s back.

Their local candidate in his leaflet has called out my ‘personal attacks’ and suggested I’m an ‘unknown candidate’, even though he knows exactly who I am and I’ve merely highlighted that he didn’t even attend half of the meetings he was expected at since the last election, yet is seeking re-election based on his ‘record’.

Their candidate has also repeatedly suggested online that he’s never claimed expenses, the publicly available expenses record says he has.
