Housing Development Causing Dust Issues For Residents

What Is Happening?

A large housing development off Rossendale Road, in the Padiham & Burnley West ward, is apparently causing dust issues for residents.

This was reported to me by a local resident, among other concerns about the site. Upon visiting the area, I witnessed a lot of dust on vehicles, houses and the road, which appeared to be both blowing off the site itself and being brought onto the housing estate by vehicles exiting the site.

What I did

Fortunately, a friend of mine is a Chartered Environmentalist, who specialises partly in Dust Management relating to planning applications.

When we visited the area for a site survey and to find out more, a group of residents gathered to share their concerns and issues. The Chartered Environmentalist has since reviewed the planning application and noticed a number of conditions appear to possibly not be being adhered to, as per what I witnessed, so he will be advising residents how to raise their concerns and the conditions to question, to give the neighbourhood the best chance of working with the developer, the Environmental Health Officer and Burnley Council, to mitigate their concerns and the negative impact the development is having on the local residents.
